As we all know, WE MOVED TO THE NEW OFFICE! We had a busy moving morning, and now we are working in the brand new, fabulously designed office. New storage boxes for each one of us are going to arrive soon, so we can transfer our stuff there.

Here are some of the highlights of the moving morning:

PLAN BEE

On top of all the other exciting projects in Mediamatic, we have also a Plan Bee (I made this name up)! Some of us might be scared, but we ARE going to have 2 beehives on our roof. Apparently, keeping bees is one of the best ways to improve the biodiversity of an urban environment, so it does make perfect sense that we are also doing it here. Thus, we have the following bee-related events coming up:

Workshop: Making the Dijksgracht a Bee-friendly Zone is taking place on 1 April. Participants will explore how they can collaborate to improve the biodiversity of the city and what is needed to turn the area of the Dijksgracht, into a new beekeeping heaven.

Course: Urban Beekeeping is starting on 8 April. It will consist of 12 lessons, and there are only 8 spots available.

RUUD ALL OVER

Good news! After meeting with Amsterdam Marketing about a month ago, we finally got green lights for the Ruud All Over (temporarily named) project! It will be a retrospective of Amsterdam photographer Ruud van der Peijl, all over the city. In total, 1000 Abri’s and Mupi’s will be rented for 1 week at the end of the year to display his works. The project is planned to be funded by the crowd.
A mock-up of how this will look like:

SHAFFY'S TUIN

Shaffy’s Tuin, a public garden, is our neighbour. Situated next to the green barn, it is created and financed by a group of active volunteers. This Saturday, 21 March, will be its open day. If you are interested to know what is happening to that area, or even to be part of it, you should have a look at this page.

UPCOMING WORKSHOP

Workshop: The Magic of Mushroom Growing, a.k.a. magic mushroom growing workshop is happening again next week, on 27 March. It will be led by a different person than before. For more information, keep an eye on our website.

Have a good week!
