May 5 Tablecloth at Mediamatic Fabriek

Are you on it?

5 May 2012

780,559 names of Amsterdam residents have been woven into Maarten Baas' May 5 tablecloth. People came to Mediamatic Fabriek this weekend to find their names on the 60-meter-long piece. Saturday we rounded off with free expired wine and an acoustic Mind Igloo-concert by The Don't Touch My Croque-Monsieurs.

The May 5 tablecloth was designed specially for the Vrijheidsmaaltijd (Liberty Meal). This new tradition encourages everyone in Amsterdam to sit down for a meal together with family, friends and neighbors. After this weekend it will be included in the collection of the Amsterdam Museum.
