This session kicked off with some solid advice from Denis Oudendijk on how to build with supposed trash. As an experienced garbage architect, Denis gave some useful tips for our Freezing Favela citizens on finding new functions for used materials.
After the presentation we continued to examine practicalities necessary for the building process. Mediamatic shared a list of letftover materials currently inside the Mediamatic Fabriek, the electricity situation and more. Finally, upstairs projects had a chance to have a sit-down with the Mediamatic team to discuss their building plans.
Freezing Favela is a small city within Mediamatic Fabriek. Builders, cooks and other makers have been given the possibility to claim a part of the big industrial hall as their own. They work on their projects autonomously, but like in any other community, materials, space and functions have to be shared. Favela citizens are making tosti's from scratch, paper from cow shit, furniture from cardboard, and food from our very own aquaponics farm. And everyone is welcome to contribute. Build this city with us.
