Ooglive

On the 29th of September Picnic at Night presented OogLive an evening program in which nationally and internationally renowned audio-visual and performing artists use live and prerecorded image and sound to explore, critique and comment on the news of the Day.

Oog online

OogLive is a spin-off based on the success of Oog (Eye) a project of the national Dutch daily news paper De Volkskrant. I started Oog in September 2005 as an online platform in which each week a different artist working in sound and image is asked to respond to news and current affairs. The selection of artists participating has grown into a varied group of nationally and internationally artists working with very different forms of expertise and approaches. Oog is visited by a weekly audience of an average of 3000-5000 visiters and has become one of the most visited pages of the online edition of the newspaper outside the news section.

Each contribution is displayed prominently for a week and remains accessible in the ‘Oog’-archive

As initiator of Oog en Ooglive, teacher at the School of Visual Design in Utrecht and a practicing imagemaker I am interested in positioning artists and visual designers in the role of social commentators, giving unexpected insights into courant issues.
