The Great Sperm Race
A documentary filmed from sperm's point of view while trying to fertilise the female egg cell. However, since there is limited footage of sperm, director Julian Jones had to come up with something to visualise the journey of sperm travelling inwards the vagina. He had people wearing white clothes to act like sperm, resulting in hilarious imagery. Next to that this will be a fun evening of watching people pretend to be sperm, we will also help some fabels about sperm and reproduction out of the world.
The Great Sperm Race starts at 21:30
Are you fundamentally lonely? Do you break taboos? Join us and start Raising Doubts (Twijfel Zaaien) in Amsterdam's hotspot: Dijkspark. Artist Jasmin Moeller and Masha Ru prepared thirty questions about life and art that lead you along the green walkway. You answer these questions by sowing flowerseeds in our flowerbeds. This way your answers will grow out to become part of a lush infographic, and you will get to know what type of artist you would have been.

Spectrum Crops - Findings in Color
Photosynthesis: the process in plants that turns sunlight into chemical energy. It influences the shape, structure and color of plants and explains why fauna in the tropics is often green and plentiful and turns yellow and sparse when placed in the dark. But what would happen if they are cultivated in the light of a specific colour? Do blue-grown herb leafs look different from orange ones? And will bushes standing in yellow light hold more fruit than those from a violet world?
Artist Diana Scherer researches the impact of colour on plant development in her new Spectrum Crops project initiated at Mediamatic.
Start at 17:00
Mediamatic presents a new edition of the art installation Fashion Machine, a concept by designer Conny Groenewegen. To create this piece, in the workshop Cut the Crap met Conny the leftovers of the fast fashion industry are turned into art. During three months, an unimaginable amount of fleece sweaters is systematically cut to strips in order to create balls of yarn, which are knotted together on basic wooden knitting benches attached to the outside fences of Mediamatic. This summer, enormous fleece flags will lower down and transform the Mediamatic building into an expressive coloured landmark. This monument makes the production mechanism and the scale of the fast fashion industry clear, while the useless material will turn into a beautiful fashion monument with an almost activist appearance.
