Buddleia davidii, more commonly known as the butterfly bush, is part of the buddleiaceae family. A deciduous shrub, it blooms from July to September and grows to about 3m tall. It prefers sunlight and is often found in wastelands or in rocky riversides.

An orange-gold dye can be extracted from the flowers or a green or black dye from the flowers, stems, and leaves combined. The butterfly bush is noted for its ability to attract wildlife - most notably butterflies!
