Calendula officinalis, or marigold, is an annual that blooms from June to November.
Marigold has a long and illustrious history as a home remedy - used mostly for external ailments. The dried petals can be used in a tea to help with circulation. Additionally both the petals and the leaves can be added to salads. Both are high in vitamin A and C. The dye that is obtained from boiling the flowers can be used both in cooking and to dye fabric. The flowers can also be used to lighten hair when added to shampoos.
