Bon: Marketing

All information regarding the previous promotion of the Mediamatic Bon, including (B2B), and (B2C) marketing.

Business to Business Marketing (B2B)

Starting the Bon in September, we thought of different ways to best promote it to companies. With Christmas approaching, we thought it would be a nice idea to target companies from all sectors, and give those companies this opportunity to purchase the Bon and offer it to their colleagues for Christmas. 

How did we do this?

  • Searched for over 100 companies located in Amsterdam and surrounding neighbourhoods. 
  • Called and emailed those companies.

Where can I find the previous company contacts, sample emails?

  • Here you will find an excel sheet with all company name, sector and contact information.
  • You will also find a word document with the sample email that was sent to these companies.

The Results? 

Unfortunately marketing the Bon to companies was not as successful as we thought, this year. There were a number of reasons for this:

  • We were too late with sending out emails, some companies already plan Christmas presents in July.
  • Some companies cannot afford it.
  • Some companies were not interested. 

What can you do next?

Because a number of companies have now heard about us, we can say that we did an early marketing campaign for 2020. Now a number of companies have heard about MM, hence, it will be easier to get in touch with them and promote the Bon.

Suggestions:

  • Start emailing companies about the Bon early on.
  • Find festivities in which companies may give a present to their colleagues (St. Niklas, Christmas)
  • Promote the Bon as potential team building activities for companies. 

Business to Consumer Marketing (B2C)

Marketing the Bon to consumers was not a priority just yet, as we aimed to sell the Bon in bulks to companies and also fully make the Bon work. Although, through time we saw that little effort we put into B2C marketing seemed more efficient. This was done in a number of ways:

  • Word to mouth: told MM staff to speak about the Bon to consumers at the restaurant, people attending workshops and during tours.
  • Promoted the Bon on the MM ETEN menu card
  • Social Media: via the use of instagram we posted a variety of pictures and gifs - that would promote the Bon.

When to Promote the Bon?

The Bon can be promoted to consumers as often as possible, especially via word to mouth. Regards to social media usage, it is best to promote it with festivities coming up - and persuade the consumers that this Bon is a nice present to offer to their friends.

What can you do next?

Firstly, you can continue doing what was already being done:

  • Motivate MM staff to speak about the Bon to consumers at MM.
  • Print it on flyers that are used at MM.
  • Using Social Media.

What can be improved:

  • Think of new ways to use social media to promote it (e.g. create videos, new campaigns).
  • Use Google Ads.
  • Check to see if the Bon can be promoted via other channels (e.g. Dedi.co)
