Workshop:

Botanikurs 101: Living Decorations - Kokedama

with Monai McCullough

21 Nov 2020

Kokedama is a style of Japanese bonsai, where a plant's root system is wrapped in moss and bound with string, transforming it into a unique sculptural art form. ‘Koke’ means moss and ‘dama’ means ball. It has come a long way since its traditional bonsai, including string gardens which allow plants to defy gravity and make a strong and peaceful statement. Made popular by Dutch artist Fedor van de Valk, string gardens take this tradition a step further by suspending kokedama in the air. They’re a great way to bring diversity to your houseplants and are easy to care for.

In this workshop, you will make your own kokedama, learn about the unique soil properties and master caring for them at home.
