Regular maintenance of the Casting Doubt flowerbeds

The pins tend to fall off the flowerbeds often. So make sure that once every two weeks or once a month, the flowerbeds are checked on whether they need new pins. Those can simply be hammered into the existing holes.

Plant check up
Make sure to check up on the plants inside the flowerbeds. Those you can keep an eye on in the photo file in this knowledgepage. You can also make use of apps that recognize plants. (Examples follow)

Also keep the weeds in mind and prevent that the weeds grow out of the sides, which will hide the words and letters. The weeds growing out of the sides of the beds can look really nice, but after some time some of the stems will thicken, hurt the flowerbeds and be harder to remove, so be mindful of this.

Replacing planks

In case a plank needs to be replace, there are two ways to install the new wood on the hinges. In case the new plank has holes in the sides, you could try pressing the pins on the inner sides of the hinges back into the wood. You do this with a (...).

When you need to replace a woord or letter, simply type out the text in Sélavy and print the letters in it's right size (unfortunately, the sizing is not universally used, so you'll have to play with it). You can then stick the page with the letters onto the plank and nail the pins into every hole in the lettertype. Once you did every one of them, tear the paper off of the flowerbed and you're done. Also see the photo with an example of this practise.
