Weimin Zhu is a jewelry and object designer from China. Her designs mainly focus on creating an intimate relationship between the objects in our daily lives and ourselves, especially our inner mental feeling

In 2022 Min graduated from the Gerrit Rietveld academy with Playful Jewelry for the inner world, which is exhibited in Mediamatic in the summer. In autumn 2022 she starts her master at the Design Academy in Eindhoven.

Min’s design highlights the wearability of jewellery and the playful ‘purpose’ of wearing mixed with its interactive effect on the wearer’s body, and she continues to explore how that in effect helps to achieve a balance between the body and the mind.

"The beauty of jewelry is that you wear it on your body - therefore you automatically have an intimate relationship. In my work, I use that relationship to bring people a little more happiness and joy."

She moved from China to Amsterdam because of a dream: out of nowhere she dreamt she should study jewelry design in the Netherlands. When she told her parents about her dream and that she would follow it, they misheard her: In Chinese Netherlands is called hélǎn 荷兰, which sounds an awful lot like a Chinese province called : hé nán 河南.
