Silvia Alonso Rodriguez
Hello! I'm Silvia, I'm 27 years old and natural from Spain, based in Amsterdam. I graduated from Biology in 2020 at the University of León, Spain. As part of my biology studies, I also studied at Benemérita Universidad Autónoma de Puebla in Mexico. I am currently a Design Student at DesignLab Department, Gerrit Rietveld Academie, Amsterdam.
Cocktail menu design, mise en place process, and research are all part of my work as a cocktail maker. Also as part of my work process, I ensure that I am well organized, I reflect intensely and I improve. I am interested in researching techniques and tools that can be related to different ways of cocktail making and use local ingredients.
In my artist practice, my work includes Sculpture, Animation, Product Design, Poster and Ad Design which is executed through a conceptual and experimental process. I work with experimental techniques and bio-related materials and shapes to create works without an aesthetic pleasure focus.
I like to use the abstract translation to re-dimension, remake and create complex works that approach topics like cultural imaginary, folklore, uncomfortable technology or philosophical ideas.
All my works have a big layer of research and a lot of different textures. I got really inspired by movements like kitsch, camp, the anti-design school, digital dadaism, transhumanism or vaporwave.
