Eva Meijer, an artist, writer, and philosopher, initiated the Dog Dinner project as part of her postdoctoral research titled "The Politics of (Not) Eating Animals."
About the Event
At the Dog Dinner, we invite you to explore new multispecies eating practices and playfully break out of the human-centered worldview. By dining together, we aim to foster empathy and interconnectedness among different species.
Our kitchen team at Mediamatic has created a specially crafted 4-course vegan menu and drink pairing suitable for both you and your dog. Dogs, like humans, are omnivores and can thrive on a vegan diet. The Dog Dinner is a communal event where you'll be seated at a low table together with other dogs and humans.
Multispecies Community Building
In conjunction with the dog dinners, we are hosting a symposium titled "Imagining New Multispecies Communities" on Friday the 16th of June, which will be hosted by Eva Meijer.
Additionally, on Sunday, the 18th of June, we have curated a special kids program, featuring a Reading Session for dogs and kids, as well as a fun dog cookie baking workshop for children, named Brokken Maken.
Information
- As the dinner is primarily focused on dogs, we have a maximum of 2 persons per dog to keep the communal table balanced. We appreciate your understanding of this consideration.
- If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to contact us at inhumancarnival@mediamatic.nl
- To feel more prepared for your first dog dinner experience, we recommend reviewing our Dog Dinner etiquette guide and our FAQ section.
