Meet Alice Zerini-Le Reste
Alice is a ceramic artist from Montreal, Canada, currently based in Stockholm, where she studies craft at Konstfack.
She came to Amsterdam for Mediamatic’s Aroma Lab because she wanted to experience the process of creating a scent and explore how elements of her scent experiments could be incorporated into her ceramic glaze-making process.
The process of mixing molecules to create entirely new smells fascinates her and serves as inspiration for her work with glazes.
She’s particularly struck by the idea of translating things like food into scent and color.
This is her third time attending Mediamatic’s Aroma Lab. During her second workshop, she attempted to replicate the smell of a baguette. She has also worked with other distinctive scents, such as cigarettes on leather.
Alice plans to use the knowledge gained from these workshops in her ongoing research on ceramic glaze development.
