Carmen Schabracq
Carmen Schabracq is a visual Artist and costume designer. She works in different media in which the performative plays an important role. She collects stories from different myths, traditions, her own experiences and uses them to recreate collage like visual narratives.
In collaboration with sound artist and designer Harpo ’t Hart she created a large floating installation: Zeemond (“Sea Mouth”), an instrument played by the water. It takes the form of a large mouth or a hand emerging from the waves, producing sound like a speaking foghorn, giving the sea an immediate voice. In this way, the IJ itself becomes an active performer in a performance that concerns us all.
