Art of the 90s Trend

The Red Dot Gallery was opened in 2007 as a expansion of the Theertha ‘s activities which demanded exhibition spaces that understood the needs of the contemporary art. The Red Dot Gallery is housed in the ground floor of the Theertha Office located in the new capital of Sri Lanka , Sri Jayawardena Pura.

Theertha, supports art such as of the 90’s Trend. It is a trend of art that challenged the existing aesthetics, methodologies and ideology in art making. Primary intentions of the Red Dot Gallery is to show case art that has found contemporary interpretations and manifestations taking their point of departure from art of the 90s Trend.

The Red Dot Gallery schedules interesting array of exhibitions. International artists are given opportunity to exhibit their work through the regular international residency programs held every year. In addition, young artists experimental work is showcased in number of group exhibitions related to the artists colloquiums conducted by Theertha. Every year an exciting array of most cutting edge and new work of artists are presented through solo shows in the Pradharshana Wasanthaya (Gallery Season) from September to January.
