In 2009, Maarten Baas was the first Dutch designer to receive the international Designer of the Year award. Baas was also the youngest reciever of this award. His work can be found in collections of the Rijksmuseum, the Victoria & Albert Museum in London and the MoMa in New York.

The tablecoth Maarten Baas designed for the Vrijheidsmaaltijd was exhibited at Mediamatic Fabriek May 5 & 6 2012.
