A playful presentation of his multiple identites is central Müller's work. He gained popularity through his alter-ego project Your Newest Friend Gijs Müller. Gijs Müller has been exhibiting Gijs Müller around the world since 1995 in covers of magazines, in TV- and radio-commercials, on billboards, and exhibitions at the Dutch Institute in Paris in 2000 and at Sandberg 2 in Hoorn in 2001.
He has also participated at shows in Los Angeles, Paris, Durban, Het Stedelijk Bureau Amsterdam, Arti et Amicitiae, Amsterdam and Grafisch Atelier in Utrecht.
