CaCO3, Botanica and Coleoptera

Thursday March 12. Food at 18:30, Talks at 20:00

Where do the future of 3d printing, art and bio-materials intersect? At Biotalk: CaCO3, Botanica and Coleoptera we look into the alternatives for plastics and new ways to create 3D objects out of living matter. We'll learn about objects made from insect excrements by the experimental Studio Formafantasma, how to grow stone with designers Thomas Vailly & Laura Jansen and look into ways to create new polymers from beetle wings with Aagje Hoekstra.

Botanica project by Formafantasma - More than two centuries ago, plants came to be categorized for their secretions, as a potential raw material. The objects displayed in the Botanica collection are designed as if the oil-based era, in which we are living, never took place.
