Heating system

In all the spaces

If it is cold inside and the heating seems to be not working.

1. Go to the installation and check if there is electrical power. Typically the heater its clock is rest when there's a power outage. So check the time and date and change it accordingly in the settings menu.

2. Check the water pressure, should be between 1 - 2 Bar, If not fill it up with the tube. (which is attached to one of the heater units)
Connect the tube to the bottom right of the heater and to the tap next to the door. now open all the valves starting from the tap next to the door. If done close all the valves starting from the heater side.

Different heating systems:

1. The main building, West-North outer corner of the ground floor (Gas)
2. Portocabins, next to the Toilets on the ground floor portocabin (Gas)
3. The green shed, hanging above the cleanroom (Gas)
4. Aquaponics, in the fishtanks (Electrical)
5. Black Barn terras heaters, not fixed, they are typically stored behind the curtain (Bottle Gas)
6. Restaurant, the heaters on the waterside and the metal stove next to the kitchen (Wood / Gas)

Note: Heating has been capped and quotation for AP fish heater has been made.
Replaced the pressure drum on the 2nd of October of 2018. Check regularly if there's no fluid dripping on the drum to prevent rusting.

About the gas heating system:

- It uses a thermostate that you can find at the right side of the room.
- It has a clock setting so the heating goos automatically low in the weekend and after five. In the summer it should be set on summer mode. The sensor for the heating is outside the building.
- Each radiator also has its own thermostat knob. Make sure to not put it higher than three, this way we'll have optimal comfort.

Maintenance for the gas heating system:

1. Check the water pressure, should be between 1 and 2 bar, not below 0.5!
you can refill water by connecting the hose to the bottom right hose connection and the tap and opening the valves, wait till the pressure is at the desired level.

Explanation of the heating system by Arthus Berni (contractor)

You have 2 boilers: 1 for the entire main building and 1 for the annex. Both boilers are switched on and off by an outside sensor. In both cases, the outside sensor is mounted on a wall in the shade behind the boiler.

When it is 17 degrees outside and the sun is shining, it is possible that the boiler will start, but that the rooms to be heated are actually already warm enough. Because the sun also heats the space through the glass. In that case it is essential that all radiator controls work properly. The radiator knobs shut off the flow of the radiator at the desired temperature. If all thermostatic radiator knobs close all associated radiators properly, the boiler will also shut down. The boiler also measures the temperature of the return water. If it is higher than a certain threshold value, the boiler switches off.

It is therefore essential - to avoid unnecessary huge gas bills - that all thermostatic radiator controls work properly. If the buttons no longer close properly and some radiators are on while the desired room temperature has already been reached, the boilers will burn through unnecessarily.

Some radiators have 40-year-old thermostatic radiator knobs from Gappmer. That brand no longer exists. We tried a few alternatives, but none of them closed the radiator properly. In order to solve this permanently, the entire system must be emptied and the entire radiator valve with button replaced. Especially emptying and filling the central heating system takes a lot of time. For now, we've swapped some buttons. Only 1 radiator at the door of the bg of the outbuilding now does not have the correct button. For now we have closed the bottom block of this radiator, so that it no longer participates in the circulation.

I advise you to replace all old Gappmer thermostatic radiator knobs in 1x. This saves an enormous amount of labor, because emptying and refilling and bleeding the central heating system is so labor-intensive.
