THE LODGER: A STORY OF THE LONDON FOG
Dir. Alfred Hitchcock (UK – 1927 – 75 min)

London is being terrorised by a Jack the Ripper-style murderer, the Avenger, who targets young blond-haired women. A mysterious new lodger arrives at the home of Mr and Mrs Bunting, whose daughter Daisy is courted by a policeman on the case. When the lodger begins behaving strangely, he attracts suspicion, particularly when he shows an interest in Daisy.
Filmed in 1926, THE LODGER is the film that introduced many of Hitchcock's classic thematic trademarks and fully manifested his groundbreaking cinematic skills.
Masterfully crafted and visually stunning, THE LODGER is Hitchcock's first commercial success and his first real directing achievement.
Considered by many critics (and by Hitchcock himself) as the first "real Hitchcock film", THE LODGER introduced the unique visual style that made him worldwide famous.
"I took a pure narrative and, for the first time, presented ideas in purely visual terms." – Alfred Hitchcock
THE LODGER will be presented with an original electro-acoustic soundtrack performed live by Filippo Castellazzi (guitar),

Michael Stratz (Double Bass), Mark Van Soest and Hakki Takki (electronics).
Previous to the screening of THE LODGER a selection of short avant-garde and experimental silent films will be presented with live music and spoken words performed by Sander Ritman (spoken word), HEIN (electronics), ALX (electronics)
and PLIEUW (electronics).
