Is public art any more than second-rate sculptors and failed performers cluttering the streets and disrupting traffic? Artichoke, producers of unforgettable live events like Antony Gormley's One & Other, are collaborating with Sky Arts and Tate to mount the first of three public conversations exploring the politics of the public domain.

Curator and writer Tim Marlow chairs a panel of provocative speakers including the new director of the Cultural Olympiad, Ruth Mackenzie; cultural commentator and curator Gus Casely-Hayford; Director of Public Space for CABE, Sarah Gaventa; journalist and television presenter Janet Street-Porter; and the former Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police, Sir Ian Blair.
