Vlad Trifa

Researcher in networked embedded devices with media and design addictions

Vlad is Research Associate with SAP Research in Zürich, and studies Sensor Networks in the context of Enterprise Service-Oriented Architectures. In the meanwhile he is also a PhD student at the Institute for Pervasive Computing at Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH Zürich), where he studies, interaction design, and explores novel interfaces and middlewares for the internet of things and embedded systems.

Prior to that, he designed sensor networks to monitor tropical antbirds in mexican rainforests and californian natural reservations with the CENS Group and the Department of Biology at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).

In 2006, he worked on multimodal human-computer interaction, humanoid robotics, and computational neurosciences at ATR International Research Center, in Kyoto, Japan. He graduated with a M.Sc. degree in Computer Science, with a specialization in robotics and artificial intelligence from the Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) in Switzerland.
