Augmented City Lab

Wednesday 23 September

Waag Society, 7scenes and Layar will host a one-day Augmented City Lab at PICNIC. The Lab focuses on near-future scenarios for mobile location-aware services. Services that will strongly impact the way we experience the city and create new possibilities for fields such as tourism, cultural heritage, transport and entertainment. In a public “show&tell”-session current state-of-the-art practices are showcased and a panel of local and international experts will discuss the opportunities for the Augmented City. This session is followed by - invitation-only – creative prototyping sessions in which teams will develop new concepts for the City of Amsterdam to be presented later to the main Picnic audience.

PICNIC Labs
PICNIC labs are part of the wildly buzzing PICNIC Festival. They bring together international thinkers and makers in an intense co-creation process, advancing the field by combining very diverse expertise & experiences in a playful setting. There will be Labs on sustainability, augmented cities, alternative money systems and more. Labs kick-off with a plenary panel (THINK), then go off into an invitation-only intense hands-on making session (MAKE) and present their results at the main conference hall (PITCH).
