Frauke Rösemeier

Art & crossmedia designer

Frauke Rösemeier finds it very interesting to make portraits of people, especially young women. She has photographed and filmed different people, sometimes people that are part of her own personal life. What are the differences between them? What do they have in common? For her graduation project, Frauke made a documentary, made out of photo stills, about a Carmelite convent in Puange, Chile. Part of the same project were the portraits of three young women from Germany. What are the reasons for young women of Frauke’s generation to choose an isolated religious life in a country where the Christian faith is slowly but steadily losing its significance? And in comparison: What kind of life do her friends lead?

Frauke Rösemeier graduated from AKI ArtEZ, the Enschede Academy of Visual Arts. She received her Bachelor in Art & Crossmedia design and holds a minor in Arts and Techniques. Her internships were among others at the film department at 3Sat, Mainz (DE) and the creation department at Pro Art, Emsdetten (DE). With her graduation project, Frauke Rösemeier was nominated for the TENT Academy Award 2009 and the René Coelho Prijs 2009.
