Tuberculosis and cow stomachs

Two bio-art talks and dinner

12 feb 2014

In her latest project, The Romantic Disease: An Artistic Investigation of Tuberculosis, bio-artist Anna Dumitriu collaborated with the UK Clinical Research Consortium and worked with strains of TB and other biological matter. Dumitriu has a strong interest in microbiology and the ethical issues raised by emerging technologies. Mandy den Elzen makes objects out of cow organs, algae, snakeskin and other bio-materials. Join us for an evening of bio-art exploration.

Bio Industry

This event is part of Mediamatic Bio Industry, a broad techno-cultural lab exploring the possibilities of fungal material and other bio-based materials for design, science and art. Scientist, artists, designers, architects and the public, will investigate how to make use of the promising characteristics of mycelium – the plastic of the 21st century.

Mediamatic Bio Industry is made possible by the DOEN foundation and the Mondriaan Fund.
