Bomb hoax

November 2007 - OCAD Integrated Media student Thorarinn Ingi Jonsson was arrested and charged with mischief and nuisance for leaving a bomb hoax outside a fundraiser at the Royal Ontario Museum. The hoax was a class project intended as a "statement against our culture of fear." The fundraiser for AIDS was canceled and lost $100,000. Current President Sarah Diamond condemned the project.

Cat killing

May 2001 - OCAD Film students Jesse Power and Anthony Ryan Wennekers plead guilty to animal cruelty and mischief charges. They filmed themselves torturing and killing a cat as postmodern art. The film was a protest against the consumption of factory-slaughtered animals. Former President Ron Shuebrook defended the project.
