Arnoud Sisselaar
Arnoud Sisselaar focused on dreams in Greek Antiquity during his studies at the Vrije University Amsterdam. He discusses further on the presence of other senses such as smell and taste in more modern dreams, connecting them to the antique understandings of scent and dreams. Ancient Greek literature offers insight to the nature and workings of dreams through the ways dreams have been used in these texts. Unfortunately, the Greek and Roman writers of those times ignored the role of scents as a possible dream ingredient, although scents were presented as a symbol of divine presence.
Bernardo Fleming
Bernardo Fleming is head of the Olfactory Design Studio at the International Flavors and Fragrances, designing fragrances that capture emotions and strategically applying them to functional products. In this Odorama edition, Bernardo works closely with Senior Perfumers to display his collection of fragrances inspired by his scented dreams. He will discuss further how and why such dreams can be turned into these physical manifestations.
Natali Blurgerman
With her installations and performances, Natali Blugerman hopes to expand our understanding of ourselves and our capabilities by provoking our consciousness and rawness. In this edition she immerses us into an experience of smelling with our conscious instead of our noses: a similar process to what might happen when we have scented dreams.
