The Australian Centre for Contemporary Art is the major public funded gallery for contemporary art in Melbourne.

Their vast halls allow for comprehensive exhibitions, bringing work that would not otherwise make it the city. Highlights include an annual major solo exhibition of an international artist (Tacia Dean in 2009) as well as the annual NEW group exhibition of significant Australian artists contributing to current contemporary art practice.

Artist in the NEW exhibition are commissioned for the show, so its a rare chance to see interesting Australian contemporary artists with funds at their disposal.
