'O'Tristana

Zeger Reyers

In nature, beauty is often related to reproduction. Oysters however, do not have to be beautiful. They reproduce by releasing large amounts of seeds and egg cells in the water. By making casts of the oysters, Zeger makes the invisible oyster visible.

No oyster is the same. The molluscs are too weak to keep shape after they are opened. The frayed outer edge of the creature, is the only part of the oyster that is visible when the oyster is open. In addition to the many forms of fractions, these edges have the most variations in color.
