Basisgids flora en fauna van Nederland

This practical pocket guide is packed with facts about everything that grows and flourishes in the Netherlands.

A comprehensive guide with regard to plants and animals. However this can never be complete. Yet there are many details to be found: 138 birds, 254 vascular plants, 44 trees, fifty mushrooms, 29 mammals, 28 insects, 32 butterflies, eight amphibians and reptiles, and seven fish. The list shows that some groups are represented fairly thin. But it is a guide that should arouse the interest of people. For each species there is a short description. Then species-specific data and related species follows. A horticultural year bar indicates when a certain specie is present in the country. It also includes a distribution map of Europe, in full-color. Finally, a register of scientific and Dutch names. No identification tables, so just a picture book in a handy size. This book is especially useful for libraries, precisely because it is not a specialist work.
