Nan Hoover began her career as a painter and enjoyed some success in her native New York in the 1950s, but it was in video - which she started using in 1973 - and particularly in video / performance hybrids, that she made her most important work. She had solo shows at MoMA in 1977 and 1980, but she was most celebrated in Europe, where she was based for the last four decades of her life, moving to Amsterdam in 1969 and then Berlin in 2005.

This tribute evening will feature contributions from Klaus Jung (artist, Head of Fine Art, GSA), Myriam Thyes (artist, Düsseldorf) and Ewan Morrison (writer, Glasgow).

The following video’s will be shown: Projections (1981) - Halfsleep (1984) - Returning to Fuji (1984) - Desert (1985). Nan’s last performance at the National Review of Live Art will also be on show in the cinema after the above talks and screenings.

This event is free but ticketed. Phone 0141 352 4900 to reserve or visit the CCA website for more information.
