www.soundmuseum.fm – the very first online sound art museum – is set to go live.

Opening of the Soundmuseum

14 sep 2008

The launch of soundmuseum.fm marks a transformation of context for sound art with its presentation of contemporary international works in optimum conditions: the virtual, dimensionless surroundings of the World Wide Web and its networked listening communities.

Viewpoint productions and the Netherlands Media Art Institute are pleased to invite you to the world premiere of Soundmuseum.fm on September 14th from 3pM at the Netherlands Media Art Institute in Amsterdam (NIMK).
Initiators Nathalie Bruys and Katja van Stiphout will present their museum with a uniquely designed sound installation. The installation will, briefly, provide the museum with a dimensional presence in physical space, giving visitors the opportunity to walk through the works on display.

www.Soundmuseum.fm will present a new exhibition in the gallery every month. The inaugural show, ‘Silence, Time and Space’, is an exploration of the work of impassioned trumpeter Liz Allbee (New York) under the curatorship of Nathalie Bruys. Allbee’s work is fuelled by many genres, including new music, improvisation, electronic composition, Asian folk and pop, noise, minimalist, free jazz and experimental rock. The exhibition features five new pieces composed specially for the Soundmuseum.fm exhibition.
