Wednesday 26 Sep At Picnic'07, Waag Society's Locative Media programme is running a workshop to look into this together with you!

The Mobile City workshop is all about using (mobile) technology to
create immersive playful experiences. In the workshop we will
investigate what elements seem to be essential to transforming your content or gameplay idea into a successful mobile concept. As a guideline we will look at the stages of Exposition, Interaction and
Challenges; how to initiate contact with your users/players, what kind of interactive gameplay to offer them, and what challenges to build your game around. These topics will be highlighted by practitioners showing and telling from their own experience in developing immersivemixed/alternate reality games.

After that we will introduce you to a prototyping tool created by Waag Society. In subgroups the workshop participants will take their idea or content and try to work out one of the aspects presented by and with help from the speakers. The tool will assist you in having a mobile demo to present your concept to the other participants during the additional last hour in which we will also present our new 7Scenes platform, which is scheduled for beta release January 1st. So come prepared: participants are asked to bring along mobile concepts or challenges that have been lingering in their minds and prepare media (images/audio/movieclips) to be used in the hands-on part of the workshop, or at least be willing to think along with your fellow participants.
