Participatory Lecture Performance by Isabel Burr Raty

13 أيار / مايو 2019

In Catastrophic times… Can the orgasmic body be a source for sustainable electricity production? Can the cavities that make up the landscapes of the human sexual organs be a territory for agricultural development? Can sex hormones offer alternative components for psychopharmacology and recreational drugs formulas?

These are some of the complex questions Isabel Burr Raty explores in her Beauty Kit project. Join her participatory lecture performance to learn more about the vast richness of female genital juices, the farms where she harvests them and to try some of her beauty products.

Beauty Kit Focus Group 0.1 Hands - Tia Torok

Isabel Burr Raty creates hybrid participatory performances and installations that invite the public to queer fixed ideas on production of beauty products, and allows them to experience the benefits of embodying her utopian sci-fi vision!

Isabel is currently running a mobile farm that harvests human female erogenous juices to use in beauty products. She aims for this farm to evolve into an “Eco-erogenous Para-pharmaceutics Village” in the Atacama Desert, where “every-BODY” will harvest and recycle each other.

In this Focus Group, the artist presents the beauty bio-products that she conceptualised, invented and manufactured using the sexual juices harvested from her farms in Portugal and Amsterdam. Combining medical and ancestral perspectives, she exposes how the nutritious properties in these fluids can replace components of beauty products that we find in the market today and points out the empty gaps that science currently has regarding the female body’s full agency.

Are you curious about learning more about the healing properties of female genital juices? Isabel's farm, her products and the ideas underlying her projects? If your answer is yes, come and participate in Burr Raty's upcoming focus group. You, the attendee will be invited to inquire on the technologies of Burr Raty's bio-autonomous farming system and to give suggestions on the sustainable model of production that these farms hope to achieve.

In this occasion Isabel hopes to “recruit” participants for her next Farm, happening in Mediamatic Amsterdam in August 2019.

Isabel Burr Raty

Isabel Burr Raty, an artist in residence at Mediamatic, Waag Society and VU this year, is a Belgian-Chilean independent filmmaker and performance artist. In her artistic research, she interweaves new media, body/live art, lectures and participatory performance proposing hybrid narratives and bio-autonomy practices that play with synthetic magic and compose in situ Sci-Fi.

The Beauty Kit Female Farm

The Beauty Kit Female Farm is a mobile eco-friendly cognitive-pleasure oriented farm that harvests female genital juices to produce beauty bio-products. It adapts to the site-specific ecosystem of the space it inhabits, recycling and archiving living materials and producing within a symbiotic niche of synergic mutualism. This farm explores its own self-sustainable economic model of production and invites female participants from all over the world to become harvesters and create trans individual knowledge about female sexual ecology and agency.
