Michael Landy

English artist, one of the so-called Young British Artists (YBAs). He is best known for the performance piece-cum-installation, Break Down (2001), in which he destroyed all of his possessions. Landy was born in London. He first studied art in Loughton and Loughborough, and later at Goldsmiths, where he exhibited in the Freeze exhibition organized by Damien Hirst, the exhibition which brought together most of the YBAs.
