Fine China Superbone (Noise-/Mathrock), founded in the late nineties and based in The Hague, cite influences ranging from Captain Beefheart, Deerhoof, Oxes, Big'N, Colossamite, Dazzling Killmen, Bastro, Bitch Magnet and Hot Snakes, to labels such as Skin Graft, Amrep, old Touch & Go and Load records. They recently opened for The Locust and Melt Banana.

Hydrus (Ambient/IDM) is Amsterdam sonologists Herman Wilken and Almer Lücke. Formerly members of Rock bands, the two met at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague. They´re adept at stochastic composition and programming extremely tight rhythms, and production-wise, these guys easily live up to the greats in the IDM genre. Hydrus shifts between melancholy and darkness, but keep their typical crystal-clear sound intact, offering breathtakingly transparent polder Electronics with complex textures.

Boutros Bubba (Noiserock), a rock band with former members of bands such as Gone Bald, Petrified Host, Quarles van Ufford, SGP and Crowd Surfers Must Die, create a sound like a sturdy, asphalt-surfaced road with some treacherously slippery patches. At times, their base of heavy drumming and tight guitar riffs gives way to swaggering drinking music and suspenseful improvisations. Boutros Bubba´s lyrics and music come together for a deep sense of absurdism.

Puin + Hoop (Ambient/Drone) make their freely-improvised music between Amsterdam and Utrecht. Remco, Erik and Roald first recorded in 2006 while the rest of their band, Accepting Us, was on a short hiatus. The initial idea was to make terrible Noise and Ambient sounds, but their music evolved in a more Ambient direction, with plenty of room for playful sound explorations.

Hunter Complex (Synthpop/New Wave) is the new moniker of Lars Meijer. His music echoes influences by Synthpop and New Wave bands from the eighties, but will also appeal to fans of current Electronic music acts. His recently released debut album, Hunter Complex, was preceded by the Here Is the Night EP, a contribution to Retro Retry 2: Another Another Green World (a remake of Brian Eno's Another Green World) and a track on Memory of a Free Festival – Een Narrominded Compilatie.

Katadreuffe (Noise/Indie/Shoegaze) was formed in Amsterdam in 2005. The band incorporates elements from post-Hardcore, Noise, Shoegaze, post-Punk and Pop. Some of the most prominent features of their music are a nearly constant rhythmic tension and a contrast between high frequency (in terms of pitch-shifting and density) and "delayed" atmospheric guitar part.

SPSound is a Friday night concert series featuring adventurous new underground music.
