Bopape’s installations, mostly including her videos, drawings and photographs, are the result of the collecting of objects that invoke strong emotional reactions. Many of the objects she is using are saturated with stories and contain memories of previous places where they might have been used. Yet, some other objects, on the other hand, are interesting for Dineo because of the places they occupy within our material culture: ‘they carry, hold, attach, keep things together as well as burden us, metaphorically and physically’. The intriguing video installation ‘The problem of beauty’ will leave you in a rhythmic trance to illusionary worlds.
