“Eene vrouw en een aardappel moet men zelf kiezen. Een mensch is geen aardappel: hij kan niet rollen, waar hij wil. Men is van de omstandigheden afhankelijk, maar dient men zich daarnaar te schikken?”

Atropa - Judith Leysner and Brenda de Vries, found on W139

In the solo exhibition Nightshade, Judith Leysner (Amsterdam, NL) shows her point of view on the current Dutch art and cultural landscape. “The Potato Eaters” (1885) by Vincent van Gogh forms the starting point of the exhibition. Leysner makes a new version of this peasant painting, based on current time and puts this forward in an abstract, raw, poetic manner.

Nightshade contains three different works:
Solanum (Video)
Dulcamara (Installation: Video, Performance and Sculpture)
Atropa (Photography)
