The Canadian Stage Company, which celebrated its 20th Anniversary during the 2007-2008 Season, has had a complex and fascinating evolution. The company was founded in 1988 by the merger of CentreStage and Toronto Free Theatre, but can trace its roots back to the very beginning of professional theatre in Toronto, Ontario in the 1930s.
