Ansje van Beusekom

Ansje van Beusekom teaches film history and media studies at Utrecht University. She has published works on film as art, the exhibition and reception of early cinema and Dutch film history. Her current projects focus on the 1920’s avant-garde cinema movement from a contemporary perspective. Van Beusekom’s lecture will explore depictions of the troubled artist in cinema, focusing on how the art world is being represented in Fritz Lang’s Scarlet Street (1947) and Julian Schnabel’s Basquiat (1996).
