Chest pain

Chest pain can have several causes which differ from heart problems/ heart attack to stress symptoms. If you don’t trust the pain, call 112. As a side note, a heart attack doesn’t always come with chest pain. Women often have different symptoms than men. These symptoms can be less obvious.

Symptoms:

  • The victim has a pressing pain on their chest.
  • Radiating pain towards the arms, shoulder blades, jaws, neck and belly area.
  • Sweating
  • Dizziness or puking
  • Less obvious symptoms:
    • Pain in the upper abdomen, the jaws, the neck, in between the shoulder blades, this is without any pain on the chest.
    • shortness of breath
    • extreme tiredness
    • dizziness
    • feelings of fear
    • fidgeting
    • faster breathing

What to do:

  • Call or let someone call 112.
  • Let the person sit or lay down, let the victim choose which position is the most comfortable.
  • If possible let someone else get an AED. Keep it out of sight of the victim.
  • When a person is having heart complications, always put the upper body higher when the victim has a tightness on the chest and the legs higher when the person loses consciousness or is dizzy.
