Transparent life

As part of my master study in Urbanism at the Academy of Architecture I had a morphology class in the green house of Mediamatic. We researched the growth of fungus on a thin base of agar agar. After some weeks with try outs and sampling we created a big installation on the wall of the glass house as a groupwork. The end product is temporary and will fall of the glass with time passing by.

Working in the glass house at Mediamatic enabled me to experience the small organism of fungus and how to manipulate their growing patterns by different application forms, transforming the growing base, sun exposure and there by tempersture differences. It is facinating to see the differences on the thin skin every week and how also the algae spors from the green house itself also grew on the glas and created a picture of transparent life.
