Severe allergic reaction (anaphylaxis):
- Symptoms include difficulty breathing, swelling of tongue/throat, dizziness, persistent cough
- Lay the person flat – do not allow them to stand or walk.
- Give adrenaline injector (such as EpiPen® or Anapen®) into the outer mid-thigh if available
- Phone an ambulance – call 112
- Phone family or emergency contact.
Mild/Moderate allergic reaction:
- Symptoms include swollen lips/eyes/face, itchy-tingling mouth, skin rash, abdominal pain/vomiting.
- Give antihistamines medication

Poisonous plant treatment:
- Clean the area with soap and water for at least 10 minutes
- Apply anti-itching lotion

Stinging insects:
- Remove the stinger with a straightedge object, like a credit card, using a brushing motion. Avoid pulling or squeezing the stinger.
- Wash the area with soap and water.
- Apply an antiseptic after washing.
- Apply hydrocortisone cream or calamine lotion. Cover the area with a bandage.
- If there’s swelling, apply a cold compress to the area.
- Give an antihistamine to reduce itching, swelling, and hives.
