John Underkoffler

Chief Scientist, Treadle & Loam and Co-Founder, G-Speak (United States)

John Underkoffler is Chief Scientist and co-founder of Oblong Industries, Inc., whose flagship product -- g-speak -- is the world's first mature & robust gestural computing platform. He has also served as science and technology advisor to a variety of major motion pictures, including Minority Report, The Hulk, and Aeon Flux.

His engineering and design pursuits in Los Angeles include work for the entertainment, gaming, and music industries, as well as a lingering association with academia. In decades past, John was a researcher at MIT's Media Lab, where he was responsible for innovations in both optical and electronic holography; later, with the Tangible Media Group, he created the I/O Bulb and Luminous Room systems. He is a co-founder of the self-scripting performance troupe Hoist Point Orchestra.
