Martti Kalliala -

Martti Kalliala (b. 1980) is a Finnish architect currently based in London with a broad notion of the professional territory of the contemporary spatial practitioner.

Currently Kalliala is editing and co-writing a book titled Better Dreams with Jenna Sutela and Tuomas Toivonen for Sternberg Press’ Solution series to be published in 2011. The book proposes a number of cultural, economical and social pragmatic utopian projects for Finland.

Kalliala has worked amongst others with the Office for Metropolitan Architecture in Rotterdam. He is the author of several prize winning designs in Finland and abroad and his work has been widely published by the international architectural press. In 2006 he received a high commendation in the AR Emerging Architecture Awards and was nominated for the Scandinavian Forum Prize for his project Mafoombey.
