Workshops Open Call

The HEIMSPIEL 2011 workshops mark the start of the entire programme. They will take place from March 29 to 31, 2011 in Cologne and address theatre professionals who have gained or wish to gain experience in process-oriented theatre productions or HEIMSPIEL projects.

Under the direction of the architects and VJs Maurício Brandão & Rodrigo Araújo / BijaRi (São Paulo), the dancer and choreographer Quan Bui Ngoc / les ballets C de la B (Gent), the playwright and co-initiator of the Munich projects “Bunnyhill”, “Illegal” and “Doing Identity” Björn Bicker (Munich), the artist Daniel Wetzel / Rimini Protokoll (Berlin), the director Pol Heyvaert (Gent) or the installation artists Signa & Arthur Köstler / SIGNA (Copenhagen, Vienna), participants will jointly assess, reject or newly develop project proposals. In addition, exhibition visits, discussions and workshop talks will contribute to enhancing contacts and theoretical exchanges.

Participants can visit the opening of the archive of the HEIMSPIEL fund on March 30, and take part as spectators or actors in the public event “Fast Forward” on March 31, at which in the format of Pecha Kucha, upcoming premieres, project proposals and favourites from the fields of theatre, urbanism and art will be presented.

Workshop hours:
March 29, 2011: 3:00 pm – 6:00 pm
March 30, 2011: 10:00 am – 6:00 pm
March 31, 2011: 10:00 am – 2:00 pm

The locations in Cologne will be announced after participation is confirmed.

Conditions of participation:

Applicants should have a background in the disciplines of theatre, dance, performance, architecture, media art, music, dramaturgy, or theatre education, and have sufficient knowledge of German or English.

The participation fee for each workshop is 50 euros (standard fee). You will receive information on the modes of payment in February after participation is annonced.
