Hamur Restaurant

Cypriot pastry

This restaurant in Northern Nicosia is just that little bit different. It is in a house for a start! And what a beautiful house it is. The atmosphere as soon as you walk in the renovated hallway is that you feel so welcomed by the owners you can’t wait to sit down.

Hamur Restaurant -

The menu is basic, but it doesn’t need to be complex, it is based mostly on the traditional Turkish Cypriot Meze style and I had at least five or six dishes that were all excellent. The great thing about Hamur is that you don’t’ have to wait long for the food, but it is all freshly cooked. I had spinach and meat pastries, salad with yoghurt and a tomato sauce, mushrooms, vegetable pastry and some Turkish bread. By the end of the lunch I was really full and satisfied too. The best thing about this restaurant is when you get the bill; you will be amaze that it is such good value; our whole meze was only around ten Euros each.

The waiters are all part of the people who own the house and I thought they were really friendly. Their standard of spoken English was excellent and there were no mistakes in the food or drinks we received.

The decoration in the restaurant is basic, with the window sills having antique wireless radios scattered along them, adding to the authenticity of the whole establishment.

Highly recommended for a basic, but traditional meal in a lovely, historic and convenient location.
