Arno Klarenbeek

During his studies Arno Klarenbeek started out with physical installations such as multi-touch tables, but gradually shifted towards designing for screens. For his graduation project he created Blocktail, together with fellow student Frans Twisk. Blocktail is an online service that helps its users to get the most out of their festival experience. On the website users can easily view and create their personal programme for ANY festival and share it with friends. The mobile application guides them through these festivals, so they'll never miss a thing. It informs users on what is happening now, helps keep track of their personalised programme and keeps them up-to-date on their friends’ whereabouts.

After graduation, Arno will further develop Blocktail and who knows what other exciting projects will come up? In the long run, he would like to spend some time abroad. Last year he was in the Dominican Republic for a couple of weeks, and was very impressed with the Caribbean culture and how much it differs from the more down-to-earth Dutch perspectives.

After finishing high school Arno studied Political Science, supplementing his income with work as a light engineer at concerts, dance parties and TV productions. Political Science didn’t give him the satisfaction he experienced being both creative and practical as a light engineer. Arno found this satisfaction studying Interaction Design in Utrecht. There he could use his creativity to solve problems from a user-centred perspective and his technical insight to realise his projects.
