Pakhuis De Zwijger

Pakhuis de Zwijger combines media, culture, society and entrepreneurship. Pakhuis de Zwijger opened its doors to the public in September 2006. Situated at the back of the establishment are a café/restaurant, several halls, radio and television studios and media workshops. The former warehouse on the Piet Heinkade also houses the offices of Cultuurfabriek, Mediagilde, Waag Society, Amsterdams Fonds voor de Kunst and Salto Omroep Amsterdam.

Conferences, exhibitions and receptions
Cultuurlab is responsible for the programming of Pakhuis de Zwijger. De Zwijger hosts crossmedia platforms throughout the week. The different halls and the catering facility are also available for rent. Apart from the main hall, with a capacity of 300 to 600 people, the building also has three smaller halls and an exhibition hall. The programming is varied, as well as multidisciplinary, with a strong focus on media, city culture and entrepreneurship. De Zwijger hosts exhibitions, debates, conferences, shows and festivals.

Other activities
Salto broadcasts cable radio and television shows in De Zwijger 24 hours a day. Waag Society has started a new initiative, refereed to as Het Mediagilde, which supports the development of creative talent and entrepreneurship in the field of ICT and new media. Het Mediagilde offers workspace as well as advanced technological facilities and a programme of activities focused on the development of knowledge and innovation.
